services Wednesdays at 7 PM with a soup supper to precede each service. All
are welcome !
- Trinity's Food Pantry is in need of donations of non-perishible foods
of all kinds. Please contact the church office for more information. Donations
can be left in the basket in the hallway just outside the narthex.
- We'll be having our annual Decorating of the Church party on Sunday
November 27th after the service with a soup and sandwich lunch beforehand.

- A very special thank you goes out to Ginny and all of the volunteers
who made VBS so successful !!
- The Trinity Ladies' Circle will host a Church Yard Sale on Saturday
August 13 from 9 AM to 2 PM. Proceeds will benefit Community Outreach. Tables
are $10. Please contact the office for more details.
- The New England District is hosting a Youth Picnic on Saturday August
20 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Cheshire Lutheran Church in Cheshire CT. The
event is open to youth in grades 6-12. The cost is $5. If you are interested,
please let Pastor know by the 13th.
- There will be a congregational meeting on Sunday August 7th immediately
following the service.
- Sunday school and our Bible Study series will both resume after
the Labor Day holiday.
June 5, 2011
- June Calendar of Events has been posted
- Vacation Bible School will run from July 18-22 this year and registration
is now open for kids in from preschool age up to age 12. Please contact
the church office for more information.
- Pastor's Wednesday evening Bible study as well as the Sunday Bible
study series are on summer break and will resume in the fall.
- The will be an informational meeting for volunteers for this years'
Vacation Bible School this coming Saturday, June 11, at 9:30 AM in the
morning. Volunteers are still needed so if you are interested, please contact
Ginny or the church office.
- The Trinity Ladies' Circle will be hosting their "Strawberry Event"
this coming Saturday from 1:00-3:00 at the church.

- Confirmation class continues this month; the last class meeting
will be on May 24 after which the class will be on break for the summer.

- Our Wednesday evening worship services begin next week on March
9 with our Ash Wednesday Liturgy of Holy Communion at 7:00 PM. The following
Wednesdays will be Vespers services, also at 7:00 PM. (Note that the same
service will be offered at our sister congregation, Lutheran Church of
Our Redeemer in New London at 5:30 PM.) We will again be participating
in a pulpit rotation with other area pastors on our circuit. The theme of
this year's Wednesday services is on the Miracles of Lent. The preaching

- We've received the list of requested gifts for this year's
Giving Tree program; the tree is in the rear of the sanctuary along with
a signup sheet. Gifts are due back to the church in unwrapped condition
by Dec. 12th to make sure that they get to their destination in time for
Christmas. Thank you !

- A special "Thank You" to all those
who made yesterday's Ordination & Installation Service
for Pastor Mazikas possible. Special thanks go out to Pr. Richard
Skov for leading the service, to Dr. Keurulainen for serving as
officiant; to Circuit Counselor Pr. Volker Heide, Pr. F. Richard
Benken (interim pastor at LCOR) and Vicar Andy Sorenson for their
participation, as well as to John Bennett and our Choir for their
musical service. Thanks also to the Ladies Group and all the volunteers
who made the reception for Pastor and his family afterwards such a
success, and to all the members, family, friends, and guests who came
to celebrate this great day.
- Pastor Mazikas will be installed
at our sister congregation, Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer
in New London, this coming Sunday July 19th at 9:30 AM as part
of their regular service, with a reception to follow. Pr. Skov
will be leading the service here at Trinity. Pr. Mazikas' first
Sunday with us will be July 26th.

Service at Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne,
IN, it was announced that Joseph E. Mazikas, Jr. has been
extended the Divine Call from our dual parish to be our pastor.
We give thanks to God for this wonderful news and pray His blessings
on Joseph and his family ! We also give thanks for the work of our
District President, Rev. Dr. James Keurulainen, our Circuit Counselor,
Rev. Paul Scheyder, our interim pastor, Rev. Richard Skov, our
Call Committee and the leadership of both congregations for their
efforts leading up to this joyous announcement !

- We would like
to thank Rev. Richard Skov, Pastor Emeritus at our
sister congregation Christ Lutheran Church in Niantic,
CT for accepting the role as our interim pastor during the
vacancy as we continue the process to call our congregation's
next pastor. Pr. Skov will be available in the office on
Wednesdays or by appointment by contacting the church office.
We would also like to thank Pr. Walter Reuning, Pr. Chris Bartell,
and Elders Dan Scheutz and Dean Darling for their help in leading
our Sunday services during July, August, and September.
- On October 25th,
the Trinity Ladies Group will be hosting a silent
and soup sampler supper fundraiser for our community outreach
projects. We are looking for donations of new or like new
items for the silent auction. Donations need to be received
at the church by Sunday oct. 19th.

- Preschool
closing programs for the pre-k classes are Thursday,
May 29th @ 6:30 pm and Friday, May 30th @ 6:30 pm.
Our theme this year is "Celebrating New Life".
- A 25th
anniversary celebration is scheduled for Sunday,
June 29th from 12 to 4 pm. There will be entertainment
and music, games and activities for the children, and food.
Come join us for this special event as we commemorate this great
occasion. Friends old and new are invited to attend,

- Pastor
Maton has announced, after much prayer and consideration,
that he has been accepted into a doctoral program of
study at a university in Virginia and has requested a
release from his Call. His last Sunday with us will likely
be sometime in July. We certainly wish him well and give thanks
to God for his 5+ years of service among us ! Please see the next
newsletter for more details, and please remember Trinity and Our Redeemer
in your prayers as we prepare to call a new pastor to minister
among us.

audio files for Palm Sunday, Holy Week, Easter Sunday,
March 30, and April 6 are now available.
- The
25th anniversary of Trinity Lutheran Preschool will
be this fall, and to prepare to celebrate that wonderful milestone,
Trinity will be hosting a Spaghetti Supper to benefit
the Preschool on Friday May 2.
- Applications
for Trinity's Scholarship Program are available
in the narthex. Applications are due May 31st.

special thank-you to Pastor Richard Skov, Pastor Emeritus
of our sister congregation, Christ Lutheran Church
in Niantic, CT for his service to us this morning as guest
preacher while Pastor Maton is away on vacation.

Tuesday Adult Instruction/New Member Class has wrapped
up as of April 1.

tea and fellowship to benefit Trinity's Kitchen on Saturday
April 26 from 1:00-3:00 PM. A signup sheet is in the

Food Pantry will be receiving a shipment of food on
April 7th. Volunteers are needed to help move the items
and stock the shelves. If you are able to help, the work
is expected to begin at 9:30 AM. Thank you !

reminder that our annual Easter Breakfast will be on

to increased need in the area, our Church Food Pantry
is in need of restocking. Donations may be placed in
the basket in the narthex. The items most needed at present
are :
- Canned
meats/tuna, canned fruit, sugar, flour, coffee,
tea, salad dressing, maple syrup, soups (except tomato),
pasta sauce, crackers, jam/jelly, pudding, jello, condiments,
and mayonnaise.

- Throughout Lent, we will have the opportunity
to prepare for Holy Week each Wednesday evening at
7:00 for a service of Evening Prayer, preceded by a soup
supper at 6:15 PM in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome.
For February 13, 20, and 27th, we will be participating
in a pulpit exchange with our sister congregations in the area.
Our guest preachers will be (not necessarily in order)
Pastor Paul Scheyder from Christ Lutheran in Niantic, CT,
Pastor Scott Schuett from Redeemer Lutheran in Lebanon, CT,
and Pastor Jonathan Liebich from Christ Lutheran in Hebron,
CT.
- During the season of Lent, our Sunday morning
Liturgy will be Divine Service III from
Lutheran Service Book. We will resume use of
Divine Service I on Easter Sunday as we
celebrate our Lord's Resurrection.
- A note that the February Church Council meeting
will be on Friday Feb. 15, not on the second
Thursday as it usually is.
- Our New Members/Adult Instruction Class is underway
and meets Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM.
- Youth Confirmation continues this month, meeting
Wednesdays 4:15 PM.
- Due to increased demand the Food Pantry has been
moved to a larger space within our church building. Donations
are greatly appreciated. The most needed food items at
present are :
- Cereals, canned soup, canned meats, canned pasta,
spaghetti sauce, canned fruit, condiments, mayo, oil,
mustard, flour, sugar, tea and coffee.
- Trinity Preschool will be participating in the
Chariho Preschool Fair on March 8th and we are planning
an Open House and Registration Day on March 29th.
