of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (www.lcms.org).
Our mission is the mission we have been given from our Lord himself –
in word and deed to bring the good news of the full and free forgiveness
of sins in Jesus' name to our members, our community, and our world.
(Luke 24:46-47)
Make no mistake – you will not find perfect people at Trinity. In
other words, you'll find people just like you. You'll find sinners
in need of a gracious God. For the church is nothing if not a
"haven for sinners." As Martin Luther put it, the church is but
"one beggar leading another to a piece of bread." Because of all
this, the most important aspect of carrying out Trinity's mission takes
place every Lord's Day in the Divine Service. Every Sunday our
heavenly Father who washed us into His family in Holy Baptism gathers us
to hear His life-giving and life-changing Word. Every Sunday in
the miracle of the Lord's Supper we are fed the true Body and Blood of
Jesus for the forgiveness of sins, strengthening of faith, and
sustaining of soul.
Everything else we do at Trinity – from preschool to food pantry – is a
joyful thanksgiving for what God gives us each Sunday. Fed and
forgiven we go forth into our homes, schools, and workplaces to love
others as Christ has loved us.
